The Whitsunday Islands off Australia (and a couple of the Blue Mountains outside Sydney)

The Whitsundays sit at the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef. I took a sailing vacation there for six days after a conference in 2005. One of these pictures was a Conde Nast Traveler finalist photo, and won me a camcorder!

The ship, the Coral Trekker, a square-rigged ketch, was captained by Cap'n Bob, an old salt if there ever was. When asked about getting stung by one of the jellyfish, he replied "Give ya a little bit of a lift, it will! Wear yer stinger suits now!"
